Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC), is an effective material for reducing the weight of rock construction. At a typical thickness of 1”, compared to shotcrete being in the range of 4-8” thick, the weight is reduced by at least 70%. GFRC maintains all of the aesthetic characteristics of shotcrete, however it is not recommended for any application requiring high degrees of structural strength such as retaining walls. GFRC is also effective in casting light weight sculptures.
